The Humboldt High School Music Department proudly presents Soundsations 2019, “Stars On Stage” on Saturday, April 13, at 7:00 P.M. in the R.W. Carlson Auditorium. Many fantastic acts will grace the stage of this year’s show. The show will feature twenty winning acts, all student led, and the High School Jazz Band, Jazz Choir and Concert Chorale will fill out the show with some modern pop and jazz. Enjoy homemade pie and coffee at intermission, provided by the Humboldt Music Boosters and parents. Admission to the show is $3 for adults, and $2 for students. Tickets will be available at the door.
Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church is having their annual Abelskivers Breakfast on Sunday, April 14 from 8:00 am to 11:00 am in the church Fellowship Hall. The cost is $8 for adults and $4 for children.
The annual Humboldt/Dakota City Noon Kiwanis Roast Beef Dinner will be held on Sunday, April 14 from 10:30 am to 1:00 pm in the Fellowship Hall at Zion Lutheran Church in Humboldt. The meal includes roast beef on bread with mashed potatoes and gravy, green beans, coleslaw, dessert and drink. The cost is $10 for adults, $5 for children 10 and under. Carryout meals are available. All funds raised go to support youth and families in the community and to Kiwanis Christmasland.
The Fort Dodge Area Symphony will have their season finale concert featuring winners of the annual Young Artists Competition The concert is titled “Youthful Exuberance” and will take place on Sunday, April 14 at 3:00 pm at the Fort Dodge Middle School at 800 N 32nd St in Ft Dodge. Ticket cost is $10 at the door.
There will be a silent auction in Room 21 at the Faith United Methodist Church in Humboldt on Saturday, May 4th from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm. All proceeds go to the Humboldt Community Animal Shelter – Vet Account. Bids will end at 3:00 pm. Online bidding is also available at Humboldt County ACO. There will be a Maddie Poppe autograph picture, CD and T-shirt package that bidding will continue on for many more days.
The Humboldt School Vocal Music Department Parade of Choirs concert will be held Monday, May 13, at 7:00 pm in the R.W. Carlson Auditorium. Our final concert of the year will include performances by the 6th Grade Chorus, 7/8 Grade Chorus, Women’s Chorus and Concert Chorale. Concert Chorale will perform selections recently sung at the Iowa Large Group Music Festival, where they received a Division I rating for the fourth year in a row. Come experience the musical development and growth as each choir sings. Concert admission is $3 for adults, and $2 for students.
The VFW and Humboldt County Courthouse are seeking help to get flags out on May 23rd for the upcoming Memorial Day holiday. Volunteers are needed to help get flags out at the courthouse on Thursday, May 23rd at 5:00 pm. They also need assistance taking the flags down on May 28th at 5:00 pm. Anyone available to help is welcome.

This is an overview on the issue of Domestic Minor Sex Trafficking in Iowa and efforts to combat it. This program will provide an accurate and current awareness for community members to the risks and remedies in confronting these issues.
