Humboldt’s Bats Cool Late, End 2019 Season Against Webster City

Slater, IA — Baseball season is officially over in Humboldt as the Wildcats fell in the 3A District 3 Semi-Final to Webster City 5-4 on Friday night.

Humboldt jumped out to a hot start as they led 4-0 after 3 which featured a two RBI single in the second by Joey Busse. The Lynx would battle back though as they put up a three spot in the 5th to cut it to one then took the lead in the top of the 7th on a two RBI double by Sean Carver with the bases loaded.

Jake Thurm was hit with the loss as he went the distance giving up five runs on eleven hits. Tyler Olson settled in for Webster City as he tossed 5 straight scoreless innnings and retired his last 13 batters to end the game before giving the ball to Dylan Steen who finished it off with a scoreless 7th to get the win.

Humboldt ends their 2019 season at 21-12 and KHBT would like to congratulate seniors Hudson Gargano, Joey Busse, Sawyer Savery, Aaron Diesburg, Michael Brightly, and Owen Newton on successful Humboldt athletics careers.
