Humboldt Softball Gets Three Named To All-District Team

Humboldt, IA — After having eight selections to the North Central All-Conference Team, the Humboldt softball team continues to rack up post-season accolades as three ladies have been named to the Class 3A Central All-District Team.

Junior’s Ellie Jacobson, Carlie Thompson, and Mady Lange all received All-District honors in a 2019 season where the Wildcats finished 29-3 and lost in the district semi-finals to Algona. Carlie Thompson had a stellar season in center field while also batting lead-off for the Wildcats as she led the team in batting average (.432), on base percentage (.522), stolen bases (31), hits (41), and runs scored (39).

Ellie Jacobson dominated from the mound all season long as she finished with a season line of 28-3, an ERA of 0.74, 323 strikeouts to 33 walks, and an opponent batting average of .124. On the offensive side Jacobson was second behind Thompson in hits (39), second in doubles (9), home runs (3), and batting averages (.406).

As for Mady Lange, she was a defensive wall over at 1st base for the Wildcats as she had the highest fielding percentage in the North Central Conference at 99.7% while only committing 1 error in 341 chances. Lange had a season line of .348 2HR 24RBIs.

Two other juniors from the North Central Conference made the 3A Central All-District team as Kameryn Etherington of Algona and Courtney Miller of Hampton-Dumont were named to the team. Two other conference members also had a player honored and it was Senior Erin Flattery of St. Edmond who made the Class A Northwest All-District team and Freshman Kelly Stoakes of Webster City who made the 4A West All-District Team.
