Humboldt, IA — The Iowa unemployment rate remained the same as it has for the past 11 months at 2.4%.

May reported around 41,000 Iowans being unemployed which was an uptick from April. However, the number is countered with the fact that Iowa has had over 31,000 people enter the workforce since May of 2018. State officials announced that businesses saw about 1100 more jobs be added to payrolls in the month of May which makes it back to back months of increase for the state after losses in the first three months of the year.

Humboldt County is middle of the pack in unemployment for the state at 2.2%. Marshall County has the highest at 3.7% and neighboring Story County is tied for the lowest at 1.3% with Adams County.
