Humboldt Downed In Their Trip To Principle Park

Des Moines, IA — It was not a good trip to Principle Park as Humboldt baseball lost to Winterset 9-1.

Owen Newton went 2 for 2 and Michael Brightly drove in the only run of the game for Humboldt in the 6th. Winterset had 10 hits and scored 7 runs between the 4th and 5th innings. Humboldt was close for most of the game after trailing 2-0 until the 4th. The Wildcats had an opportunity in the top half with runners on 2nd and 3rd with 1 out but couldn’t get either base runner across. The Huskies got a complete game from Gavin Milledge as they win their 3rd straight game. Freshman Justin Hackett was the star of the game for Winterset as he finished 3 for 4 with 3 doubles and 4 runs batted in.

It’ll be a quick turnaround as the baseball team will play again tonight at home vs. Iowa Falls-Alden in a North Central Conference match-up.
