Humboldt, IA — It was an empty trip to Clear Lake as both the softball and baseball teams suffered losses at the hands of the Lions.

The #2 softball team drops just their second game of the season in a 4-1 loss to Clear Lake as Humboldt didn’t score until the 7th. Humboldt softball is now 17-2 and drops to 5-1 in North Central Conference play.

As for the baseball team it was a hard fought 3-2 loss as Humboldt moves to 10-6 and 3-2 in conference play. Owen Newton drove in both of the Wildcat runs in the 3rd with a 2 RBI double that temporarily gave Humboldt the lead until Clear Lake scored 2 in the bottom half. Both teams got strong outings from their starters as Jake Thurm and Mac Adams went the distance. Thurm finished with 7 strikeouts and retired his last 7 of 8 batters he faced.

Humboldt softball is in action tonight as KHBT will have the call live from Algona with pregame at 5:15 and first pitch at 5:30.
