Washington, D.C. — May is National Military Appreciation Month and U.S. Senator Jodi Ernst (R-IA) spoke on the Senate floor yesterday to recognize contributions of Iowa’s service members and veterans.

Military Appreciation Month is “a time to recognize our military families who sacrifice so much and faithfully support our men and women in uniform. They keep things running during long deployments and help during the transition back to civilian life, they help that family member, and of course, long, long after.”

Ernst ways nearly nine percent of Iowa’s adult population are veterans, above the national average of six-and-a-half percent.

She says she’ll be introducing a bill soon with Senator Elizabeth Warren that will “explore ways to better track traumatic brain injuries sustained by war fighters.” Ernst ended her speech by saying “God bless the great United States of America, and those men and women that make it possible to be free.”
