Humboldt, Iowa — Winning eight events, the Humboldt Wildcat boys’ track and field team, led by veteran head coach Greg Wickett, claimed first-place honors in Eagle Grove yesterday at the Umstead Relays.

Jamison Heinz and Matt Miller went 1st and 2nd in the long jump, while Owen Terwilliger went 51-5 in the shot put to get things off on the right foot.

Miller was a busy man yesterday also making a bit of history in the open 400. Miller placed first with a time of 50.56, which was a new meet record. It also places him second overall in 3A right now, and 4th in all classes. For this early in the season? Yeah, that’s real good.

The Wildcat 4×100 and 4×400 relay teams also claimed first place in Eagle Grove, while Quinton Orr took home first place honors in the 3200m run.

Humboldt will have off until Monday when they will be at Dodger Stadium. Field events Monday will begin at 4:30 p.m.
