Humboldt, Iowa — On opening night of the Wildcat girls’ soccer season, three players got in the score column, and despite the cold and rainy conditions Humboldt soared to a 3-0 win over Fort Dodge Senior High at Dodger Stadium.

Senior midfielder Sophia Hjelmeland got the scoring barrage started in the second half, bulging the net from 35-yards out. It was just the started Hjelmeland needed, as she transitions into a more attacking role after playing in the back line last year.

Yuli Orona and Shayla Lange capped the scoring for Humboldt, who are now 1-0.

The Wildcats will be right back in action tonight in Storm Lake.

Kick-off is set for 5:30 p.m.

There will be no radio for tonight’s tilt.
