Humboldt, Iowa — The 2019 IHSAA Wrestling State Tournament has come and  gone and it was a successful run for our area competitors. Here’s an “at a glance” look at how everyone fared this weekend in our state capitol.

106:

Humboldt — Cole Nelson, Jr. — Did not place

PAC — Jacob Mielke, Sr. — 4th place

145:

Humboldt — Joey Busse, Sr. — 1st place; 28th individual state champion at Humboldt High School; first state champion in Humboldt since 2008.

195:

Humboldt — Joel Osborn, Sr. — 8th place; unranked entering tournament.

285:

Humboldt — Justin Jones, Sr. — 7th place; Humboldt’s third podium winner.

Other news and notes:

The North Central Conference had four individual State Champions at this year’s tournament: Webster City’s Drake Doolittle at 120, Clear Lake’s Eric Faught at 132, Busse at 145 and C-G-D’s Spencer Trenary at 285.

That’s a pretty good showing for the conference.
