Dakota City, Iowa — On the coldest day of the year to this point, the Humboldt Law Enforcement teams were hard at work, despite the courthouse closing.

After deliberating Monday, the Humboldt County Board of Supervisors, in addition with sheriff Dean Kruger himself, came to the decision of compensating those working that day with time and one-half.

Temperatures on January 30th — the day in question — reached that of 50 degrees below zero.

The board reached a consensus on the matter and no other official board action was taken on the matter on Monday.
