Girls Basketball: McKinney’s 40 Sink Humboldt, Remain Winless in NCC

Humboldt, Iowa — Otherworldly.

That’s probably the only phrase that would be best used to describe the game Webster City junior Taylor McKinney had Friday night.

McKinney poured in 40 points leading the Lynx to an easy 71-39 win over Humboldt.

McKinney hit 15-of-22 shots and buried 5-of-9 3-pointers, all while going 5-of-6 from the free throw line.

It was another record checked off for McKinney, who broke the scoring record at Webster last year, torching Manson-NW-Webster for 37 points.

She tied that mark again earlier this year in Pocahontas, a game in which she drilled 11 3-pointers.

The 40 points from McKinney was the highest total the Cats allowed to a single opposing player this season.

Humboldt’s loss moved them to 3-10 and 0-7 in the North Central Conference.

The Wildcats will be back in action Tuesday at home versus Iowa Falls-Alden.

Tip-off is set for 6:15 p.m.
