Humboldt, Iowa — The Humboldt City Council will welcome in two new city employees at their meeting this evening.

The council will approve the hiring of Christa Brockman as Administrative Assistant and the hiring of Susan Rutz as School Resource Officer.

The SRO position acts nearly as a liaison between both the School District and the Law Enforcement center.

When the position was created this past summer city administrator Travis Goedken  said their main priority will be preventative measures as well as creating positive bonds with the students.

He indicated the city would “explore” a COPS grant at that time, which would help pay 75% for up to three years for the officer.

The finer details of Rutz’s hiring will hashed out this evening.

This evening’s meeting will begin at 5:30 p.m. at the Humboldt Municipal Building.
