Humboldt, Iowa — Junior guard Jamison Heinz was up to his usual wizardry, the Wildcats got a huge lift from a key reserve and clamped down on the defensive end in the 2nd half to defeat Iowa Falls-Alden 63-55 last night at home.

Heinz poured in a team-high 20 points as Humboldt (6-6) snapped a five game losing skid.

Sophomore Gabe Gidel gave Humboldt a scoring spark off the bench, lifting the Cats with a trey and an and-one in successive trips down the floor.

Gidel also cashed in an elbow floater off the window as time expired in the 3rd Quarter, giving the Cats “big mo” entering the 4th.

IF-A junior Logan Aldinger scored 21 points in the first half on seven triples, but didn’t burn the Cats until late in the 4th quarter as the rest of his squad-mates failed to pick up the scoring slack.

Humboldt switched Jamison Heinz onto Aldinger in half two. Heinz lived in his hip pocket the rest of the night.

Trailing by two at halftime, Humboldt outscored IF-A by ten in the second half to secure their sixth win.

The Cats will have Wednesday and Thursday off before traveling to Algona.

Tip-off is scheduled for 7:45 p.m.
