Boys Basketball: Carlson’s 17 Not Enough as Cats Drop 4th in a Row

Lake City, Iowa — The Humboldt boys’ basketball team gave up 27 first quarter points, trailed by 14 at the break and never recovered, falling 67-49 in a non-conference tilt Tuesday at South Central Calhoun.

Calvin Carlson had 17 points in the loss, connecting on five of his ten three point shots.

Sam Fischer was the only the other Wildcat in double figures, finishing with 11 points and 4 boards.

The loss was Humboldt’s fourth in a row, seeing them drop to 5-5 after starting a promising 5-1.

It was South Central’s 10th consecutive victory.

Zane Neubam carried the offensive workload for the Titans with a team-high 17 points. Brennan Holder added 14 points, while Homer Marts and Landon Schleisman chipped in with 10 apiece.

Humboldt will be back at home Friday night when they battle Webster City.
