Ogden, Iowa — The Humboldt WIldcat wrestling team’s fast start continued on Saturday, as they were able to earn a first-place finish in the 2018 Ogden Dual Tournament.
The Wildcats were able to knock off Gilbert and Graettinger-Terril/Ruthven-Ayrshire in the morning rounds to stoke themselves to a 2-0 record in pool play.
In the afternoon session, Humboldt blew by Carroll and North Butler Community en route to a perfect 4-0 pool play record, which secured them a chance to wrestle for the title against the winner of Pool B, East Sac County.
Humboldt had previously beaten East Sac County earlier in the week, 70-9 and Saturday’s result wasn’t much better.
The Cats were able to cruise to an early team lead and never looked back en route to a 66-9 championship dual victory.
Humboldt will be off until Thursday when they will host a varsity quadrangular versus Pocahontas Area, Clarion-Goldfield-Dows and Hampton-Dumont.
Wrestling will get underway at 5:30 p.m.
