Humboldt, Iowa — The Humboldt Wildcat girls’ basketball team was good, but not good enough in a 57-42 loss to #6 Algona on Friday.

The Wildcats trailed by only five at the end of the first half and cut the lead to three, before the Bulldog’s firepower took over in the 3rd quarter.

Algona used an 18-8 3rd quarter run to pull away for their fourth straight victory.

Aliyah Buscher led the Bulldogs with 18 points and 4 rebounds, while connecting on two of her five three point attempts.

Abbey Holmes chipped in with 14 points, while Mollie McCauley had 8 points and 11 rebounds.

Humboldt’s stats were not made immediately available.

The Wildcats will play on the road Monday evening at Eagle Grove. Tip-off is set for 6:15 p.m.
