Humboldt, Iowa — The three headed monster of Jacob Thurm, Calvin Carlson and Jamison Heinz provided all the necessary scoring as the Humboldt Wildcat boys’ basketball team defeated rival Algona, Friday night.

Humboldt is now 2-1 on the season and 1-0 in the North Central Conference.

Carlson started the night hot making three 1st quarter triples, helping Humboldt jump out to a 19-10 first quarter advantage.

Thurm, a gunner in his own right, made four threes on the night en route to a team high 18 points.

Carlson finished with 16 points, while Jamison Heinz had 11 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists.

The big boost came off the Wildcat bench from sophomore big man Sam Fischer, who had 10 points and 4 rebounds. He also made a three, and hit five free throws in the win.

If Fischer can continue his ascent in the front-court, Humboldt could be dangerous.

They’ll look to keep the good vibes rolling tonight, as they travel to Eagle Grove. Tip-off is set for 7:45 p.m.
