Rolfe Man Charged in Monday Pursuit

Humboldt, Iowa — On Monday December 12, 2018 at approximately 11:12 P.M. Officer Andrew Shillington of the Humboldt Police Department attempted to stop a blue Chevy Astro van for a traffic violation on Gotch Park Road.

The driver failed to stopped and fled at a high rate of speed into Dakota City. Officer Brad
Thiele joined the pursuit north bound from Main Street and 5th street north in Dakota City.

The Driver of the van continued on 5th St north at a high rate of speed ignoring traffic signs and the speed limit. The driver of the vehicle then turned west onto the 3 Rivers Trail and lost control of the vehicle and fled on foot.

A foot pursuit ensued and Officer Thiele and Shillington pursued the suspect. The suspect refused
to obey orders to stop and Officer Thiele had to deploy his Taser to end the pursuit.

Dillion James Edwards,32 of Rolfe, IA was taken into custody and charged with the following:

Eluding
Driving while suspended
Interference with official acts
Failure to maintain control
Careless driving
No insurance
Failure to obey a traffic control device x3

Edwards was also arrested on 6 outstanding warrants ;2 for Failure to appear for Driving while
suspended and 2 for Violation of a No Contact order out of Humboldt County and 2 warrants from
Pocahontas County for Possession of a firearm as a felon and Possession of Marijuana.

Edwards was held in the Humboldt County Jail without bond pending his initial appearance.
No injuries or property damages were reported from the pursuit. The Humboldt Police Department
was assisted by Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office.
