Humboldt, Iowa — The second installment of meetings regarding the impending closure of Humota Theater will be held tonight, Humboldt City officials say.

The meeting will be held at the Humboldt-Dakota City Chamber Offices due to the amount of people that showed up for the first meeting.

Talks tonight could include models for consideration in terms of properly moving forward with the theater.

The city asks that if you, in any way, shape or form, plan on being involved in the theater process to attend the meeting.

At the prior meeting, the city explained that the transition would include donation of the building and a heavily discounted price for the equipment inside — which would still be relatively expensive.

There are some capital improvements that will be required to maintain the building such as replacing the roof and HVAC system that would require a capital campaign to fund those projects.

There was talks of starting a 501(c)(3) group to be able to pull in donations, as well.

Tonight’s meeting will begin at 6:00 p.m.
