Dakota City, Iowa — The Humboldt County Board of Supervisors as well as county auditor Peggy Rice considered the purchase and installation of new door locks at their meeting on Monday.

The only quote on the project came from Electronic Specialties of Algona, Iowa.

The pricing given was $169,986.03, which Rice said may be over the bid threshold.

The county has been putting money aside knowing that this project was going to be on the horizon. The amount of money referenced is not known at this time.

Electronic Specialties told the supervisors they could either entertain key card or key fob security for the next upgrade.

They also said it would take “approximately three months to complete the entire courthouse.”

Rice told the group that she wanted to maintain the integrity of courthouse while installing the new upgrades as well, Electronic Specialties told Rice they would be able to make that work.

The quote given to the board is good for six months, so the supervisors will discuss the matter at the meeting on the 24th of September.

Rice also said the supervisors may need to look for another quote, as well.
