Algona High Schooler Dies in Humboldt County Accident, ISP Says

Thor, Iowa — One person was killed and two more injured as the result of a two-vehicle accident that occurred Sunday afternoon, the Iowa State Patrol says.

The accident was near the intersection of P66 and C54, approximately two miles of south of Thor.

According to the crash report, the deceased party is 16-year old Algona High School student Olivia Bachman. Bachman was driving a 2008 Pontiac Torrent and traveling west on C54.

The second vehicle was driven by Paul Doster, 64 of Algona.

Law enforcement officials say Bachman failed to stop at a stop sign when the vehicle driven by Doster collided with Bachman. Both vehicles entered the northwest corner of the intersection.

Bachman then truck a utility pole and rolled onto it’s top.

Doster came to a rest in the ditch.

Susan Doster, age 63, the passenger in the second vehicle, was transported Rochester Mayo Hospital via Mercy Air Ambulance.

Paul Doster was taken to the Humboldt County Memorial Hospital.

Bachman was pronounced dead at the scene.

Assisting the Iowa State Patrol was the Humboldt, Renwick and Thor Fire Departments, the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office, Mercy Air and the Renwick and Humboldt Ambulance.
