Humboldt, Iowa — On Memorial Day, the Fourth of July and Labor Day, the city of Humboldt is decorated with over 100 American flags.

Humboldt County Supervisor Dave Lee is one of the main organizers of the tradition, and without the gobs of help he’s received over the last two holidays, things wouldn’t have gone so smoothly.

Lee, a veteran himself, is grateful for the outpouring of support they’ve received to help place the flags, something he believes shows the true colors of the Humboldt community.

And while some of the flags are a little worn, the message is still a good one: patriotism.
