Humboldt, Iowa — One person was injured and cited following a Tuesday accident in Humboldt County, according to the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputy Cory Lampe says 34-year-old Jesse Whitehill of Fort Dodge was driving eastbound on Highway 3 near Penn Avenue when the accident occurred.

The report indicates that Edward Smith, 68, of Humboldt was southbound on Penn Avenue at the time of the crash. He failed to stop at the stop sign and proceeded into the path of Whitehill’s vehicle.

Upon impact, Whitehill’s vehicle came to a rest on the gravel roadway just south of the intersection.

Smith came to a rest in the ditch.

Law enforcement officials say that Whitehill did not complain of injuries at the scene.

Smith sustained non-incapacitating injuries and was transported to the Humboldt Hospital by ambulance.

Smith was cited with Failure to Obey Stop Sign.
