Jacobson, Thompson, Lange Highlight All-NCC Softball Team

Humboldt, Iowa — Following a season that saw them win their third straight North Central Conference title, the Humboldt Wildcat softball team was well represented on the All-NCC team announced on Tuesday.

The Wildcats had three unanimous first team selections — all sophomores — : Ellie Jacobson, Carlie Thompson and Mady Lange.

Jacobson led the conference in virtually every pitching category, stacking up 28 wins in 30 starts. Jacobson’s 187 innings led the conference, as well as her microscopic 0.94 ERA. Her 235 strikeouts led the league by more than 70 punch-outs.

Thompson led the conference in runs scored with 46, hits with 53 and was third in batting average at .457. Thompson also belted two home runs and drove in 25 runs.

The last unanimous selection was catcher Mady Lange. Lange finished fourth in the league with a .456 batting average, while driving in a league-high 32 runs. Lange was fifth in the NCC in slugging percentage, as well.

Other first team selections were 3B Kendal Clark, OF Ashlyn Clark and SS Jori Hajek.

Hajek, a freshman, hit a league leading eight home runs this season, while driving in 29 runs.

The Clark sisters combined to slash .378/.414/.462.
