Humboldt Softball Prepares for Hampton-Dumont

Humboldt, Iowa — It’s day game-day for the Humboldt Wildcat softball team, as they get ready to play host to Hampton-Dumont  in the Class 3A Region 2 softball playoffs.

The Wildcats are coming off a dominant 11-1 win over Pocahontas Area in the first round of the playoffs, finishing that game in five frames.

Hampton-Dumont earned themselves an early victory, defeating Forest City, 10-0.

Humboldt won the season series but is likely to face Hampton’s better of two pitchers, Kylie Voy, who nearly led the Bulldogs to an early season upset over the Wildcats.

Voy is 13-8 on the year, with a 2.50 ERA.

Opposing her will be the Wildcat ace and All-Stater Ellie Jacobson, who is 26-2 with a 0.81 ERA over 173 innings.

Tonight’s game will be played at Humboldt High School beginning at 7:00 p.m., you can listen to the game on the Bolt with coverage starting a 6:45 p.m.
