Humboldt Baseball Getting Hot at Right Time

Humboldt, Iowa — Perhaps Jason Thurm’s premonition wasn’t so off.

I think our best baseball is still ahead of us, I think we can get on one of those hot streaks with things, kind of like year’s past” Thurm said on a recent Coaches Corner interview.

It seems like Humboldt might right in one.

The Wildcats took to the road in matinee versus Clear Lake at noon, then came back last evening to host Algona Bishop Garrigan — two very good teams.

They won both.

Humboldt used a nine-run offensive outburst to defeat the Lions 9-4 and improve to 8-5 in the North Central Conference.

Later, the Wildcats held off a late Golden Bear rally to strand the tying run on base in a 5-4 win.

It was Humboldt’s fifth victory in a row, as they now sit at 15-13 before hosting Spencer, Friday night.

First pitch tonight is scheduled for 7:30 at Humboldt High School.
