Humboldt, Iowa — The Humboldt Wildcat softball currently ranked fourth in Class 3A earned other victory over a ranked opponent, besting #14 (1A) Fort Dodge Saint Edmond, Tuesday night in North Central Conference showdown.

Mady Lange smacked her first home run of the season and drove in three in the victory.

Humboldt used a four-run 3rd inning to blow the game open.

With the victory yesterday, Humboldt takes the season series over the Gaels after defeating them earlier in the year at Harlan Rogers Park, 2-1.

The Wildcats now have sole possession of first place in the North Central Conference, sitting at 9-1 — St. Ed’s is in second and not far behind is Algona.

Ellie Jacobson was the winning pitcher, mowing down eight over seven innings of four hit ball.

Humboldt will travel to Clear Lake tonight — weather permitting — to battle with the Lions. The Wildcats beat Clear Lake 9-3 earlier this season on June 1st.
