Humboldt, Iowa — The #4 ranked Humboldt Wildcat softball navigated nicely through arguably it’s toughest weekend stretch in 2018, battling Southeast Valley, Lisbon and Carroll.

Friday night Humboldt defeated the Jaguars of SE Valley, 3-2. Valley returns everyone that came within one game of State last year before getting knocked out by Humboldt.

Humboldt got a strong start from Ellie Jacobson who went the distance allowing just four hits and two runs while striking out 11.

Rachel Darling had two hits, while Jori Hajek reached base twice and scored a run.

Saturday Humboldt invited 1A powerhouse Lisbon (#7 1A) and perennial power Carroll for a non-conference triangular.

The Wildcats earned a 6-3 decision over Carroll after jumping out to a 4-1 lead. Humboldt then fell 2-0 in a shutout loss to Lisbon. Humboldt managed only four hits off of tough junior pitcher Skyler Sadler.

Sadler is 15-3 this season with a 0.80 ERA.

Humboldt’s stats were not updated to reflect the weekend triangular.

Lisbon defeated Carroll 4-3 in the other contest.
