Humboldt, Iowa — The Humboldt City Council announced the extension of Animal Control Officer Merri Hanson at their meeting on Monday.

Hanson has held that title for about a year’s time and has made some sweeping and significant changes to the position.

She has spearheaded the movement for a new animal control building which should have more definivite answers in the upcoming months.

Hanson’s contract will remain similar in framework.

She’ll receive $30 per cat or dog plus mileage on top of the base costs.

The City of Humboldt imposes a $50 impoundment fee to the owner for their first offense then bumping up to $100 on consequent offences.
