Details Emerge on Fatal Calhoun County Crash

Rockwell City, Iowa — Details have emerged regarding a fatal traffic accident Wednesday night involving a Humboldt man.

The Iowa State Patrol reports 37-year old Deja Kirbylynne de Rubio, of Albion, was driving a 2005 Dodge Caravan eastbound in the westbound lanes of Highway 20 at about 8:30 p.m. Wednesday night.

de Rubio’s vehicle collided head on with the westbound vehicle of 53-year old Tony Christensen of Humboldt.

Both vehicles came to a rest in the median following the crash.

de Rubio was pronounced dead at the scene.

Christensen was airlifted by Life Flight to the Iowa Methodist Hospital in Des Moines for treatment of life-threatening injuries.

The Iowa State Patrol reports there were three other passengers in the Christensen vehicle who were injured and transported to Trinity Regional Medical Center in Fort Dodge for treatment of non life-threatening injuries.

The ISP was assisted by the Rockwell City and Lytton Fire Departments, Rockwell City Police Department, Sac and Calhoun County Sheriff’s Offices and the Calhoun County Emergency Medical Services.
